The Fundamentalist Roman’s Road to Salvation or The Reconciliationist Corinthian’s Road to Heaven

As an “Ultimate Reconciliationist,” I feel it is important for us to have our own method of sharing the Gospel. Many of you know, or have heard, of the “Evangelical/Fundamentalist” approach to sharing the Gospel through what they call “The Roman’s Road to Salvation.” Well…here’s my version. I call it, “The Corinthian’s Road to Heaven.” I shall present the Roman’s Road first, then the UR’s Corinthian’s Road second.

The Fundamentalist Way

What must I do to be saved?

Repent. Acts 16:30-31

1. Realize that sin is a reality.

Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”.

Romans 5:12 – “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned”.

2. Understand that a payment for sin had to be offered and given.

Romans 6:23 – “For the wages (payment) of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Read also John 3:16-17.

3. Understand that Christ Jesus died for your sins, He was buried, and physically rose from the dead.

Romans 5:8 – But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Also read I Corinthians 15:3-4.

4. Hear the call of God as He draws you to confess your sin.

Romans 10:9-10 – “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Romans 10:13 – “For whosoever call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Also read Revelation 3:20.

The Reconciliationist Way

What Must I Do To Be Saved?

Nothing. John 1:13

Realize that you are already saved and live accordingly. You can use Rom 10:9-10, 13 to insure conformation of understanding for the unknowing and unlearned in spirit if you want.

1. Realize that you will suffer loss if you continue to uphold an unrepentant life.

I Cor 3:15 If any man’s work is burned up, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as through fire.

I Cor 5:4-5 In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus, deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. (Also See I Peter 4:6!)

2. Understand that a payment for sin had to be offered and given. Realize that you are a  part of the ALL in God’s plan of salvation.

I Cor 15:22,28 – For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all shall be made alive. But each in his own order.

II Cor 5:14-15 – For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, that they should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.

3. Understand that Christ Jesus died for your sins, He was buried, and physically rose from the dead.

I Cor 15:3-4 – For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.

II Cor 5:18 – Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was [and is] in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

4. Realize that though you are not perfect – and as such your repentant heart may fail you from time to time, you must understand that God’s love is unfailing. His mercies endure forever.

I Cor 13:8 – Love never fails. It bears repeating: “Love never fails!” God is love. His love can not fail! To lose even one would mean that love failed to find and save that one. To lose millions for eternity, as some believe, would mean that love failed miserably and completely! However, His plan, His purpose, His desire, and His nature has always been and always will be love for His all!

II Cor 5:14-15 – For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, that they should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.

II Cor 5:10 – For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

5. Tell him/her to turn back to their Father

Rev 3:20 – Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
